How Launch Academy Reports Placement Rates 

Launch Academy is a proud member of CIRR (Council on Integrity in Results Reporting), the most widely accepted standard in bootcamp reporting. The coalition of more than 18 participating coding bootcamps assembled to establish and implement best practices across the coding school industry nationwide.

With CIRR, participating coding bootcamps commit to publish standardized coding bootcamp graduation and job placement data—and thus provide a clear communication of outcomes to prospective students.

The CIRR reporting methodology shows students how job placement statistics are calculated via a simple table in which participating bootcamps must report multiple student outcome variables for all their enrolled students, including full-time, part-time, and contract employment, as well as those who go on to be entrepreneurs, and more. By breaking the placement data down in a granular fashion, the power moves from a bootcamp’s marketing team to the student. It also goes beyond a single average salary statistic, providing a format to report income brackets for graduates, as well as common job titles.

In addition to CIRR, as a licensed school in Massachusetts, Launch Academy reports placement rates based on the Massachusetts Attorney General's requirements. In order to operate as a licensed school, we are required to comply with the unique reporting standards set by the Attorney General’s Office. It should be noted that the AG’s statistics do not include graduates working in full time, paid, in-field apprenticeships and internships as “placed”, despite many of those roles eventually leading to permanent employment within the company. Additional Student Statistics FAQ’s 

Q: What constitutes a Graduated Student? 

A: A student must receive a passing grade to graduate. This Graduation Grade Requirement is calculated as follows: 

  • 50% Systems Check Performance
  • 50% Career Preparation

 

Q: What constitutes a Job Seeker? 

A: A job seeker is defined as someone who enters the program with expressed intent of acquiring a paid position following graduation. In order to maintain eligibility as a Job Seeker, following successful completion of the program, the student must attend both Career Kickoff events (if seeking a job in their cohort’s city) and achieve a passing grade in the Post-Grad Support phase of the program. The loss of Job Seeker status due to a failing Post-Grad Support grade is permanent. 

Q: Do all students who attend Launch Academy graduate? 

A: No. Graduation is determined via the Graduation Grade Calculation above 

Q: Can a student attend Career Kickoff if they do not graduate? 

A: No 

Q: Does a student have access to Technical and Career Services if they don’t graduate 

A: Yes. We will continue to work with students who do not graduate by providing technical and career support for at least 6-months after the program. 

Q: Can a student obtain a job if they don’t graduate? 

A: Yes. They will likely have to level up their skills to do so and can do so via Post-Grad Support. 

Q: How often does Launch Academy refresh its published Placement Rate 

A: The Placement Rate is determined within 180 days from the end of each calendar year. 

Q: How does Launch Academy calculate the average salary of placed students? 

A: Annualized average of all earnings not including bonuses or stock. For apprenticeships, internships or contractor positions, annual hourly rates are calculated as follows: (hourly rate x 2,000 hours) and annual monthly rates are calculated as follows: (monthly earnings x 12 months).
